Meat overdose: Gastro cases keep hospitals busy over Eid

ISLAMABAD:  During the Eid holidays, emergency wards in the capital’s public hospitals received a huge influx of patients suffering from gastroenteritis and seasonal allergies. From October 16 to 18, the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences’ (Pims) emergency ward received over 1,100 patients and the Polyclinic Hospital around 500 per day. Talking to  The Express Tribune,  Pims Spokesperson Dr Ayesha Eshani said during the Eid holidays, outpatient departments (OPD) were closed, due to which all the patients were treated at the main emergency ward. She said on the second day of Eid, over 1,200 people were treated in the emergency ward. “Majority of the patients were suffering from seasonal flu, allergy, asthma and gastroenteritis,” she said, adding that several road accident cases were also reported. Nawaz Sharif to take up drone issue with US President LONDON, Oct 19 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Saturday  said he would discuss the issue of drone attacks again with the US leaders during his three-day visit. “Pakistan raised its concern in UNGA meeting, and the world appreciated it. Again in my official visit to US I will reiterate the same message,” he told media in London. The Prime Minister made a stop over in London while on his way to Washington, where he will meet President Barack Obama. Regarding the  drone attacks, he said our stand was clear and there was no duplicity in our policy. He said he raised this issue in UNGA meeting, he would again tell Obama that these strikes were against Pakistan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. US court declares Aafia guilty

NEW YORK: US Court Wednesday held Dr Aafia Siddiqui--a US-educated Pakistani woman as guilty of trying to kill American servicemen in Afghanistan. According to Geo News, the court declared its verdict on Dr Siddiqui at 2pm (local time).Aafia Siddiqui, 37, a neuroscientist trained at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was found guilty on all charges by a jury in federal court.

Govt to take all parliamentarians into confidence over NRO: Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that all the parliamentary leaders will be taken into confidence over the issue of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). Addressing the National Assembly, PM Gillani said the democratic system will not let be led astray. He said decision is yet to be made on whether to present the NRO before the National Assembly and consultations in this regard are underway.

Subscriber Identity Module SIM

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has developed a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) information system to address associated risks on security and to ensure subscription regulations in cellular sector. The objective of the project is to provide a consumer-based facility to mobile subscribers in Pakistan by which they would be able to find out the total number of SIM(s) registered against their respective CNIC number with each mobile operator. http://www.pta.gov.pk/668/index.html
